2026.07.2919:01:50UTC+00Gold Extends Rebound from 9-Month Low

Gold prices rebounded to around $4,100 per ounce on Wednesday, recovering from a nine-month low of $3,975 reached in mid-July, after the Federal Reserve opted to leave interest rates unchanged. The decision, which defied a portion of market expectations, came amid dissent from three FOMC members who favored a rate increase. The pause offered some relief to bullion investors, as higher interest rates tend to dampen demand for non-yielding assets such as gold. At the same time, appetite for safe-haven assets was bolstered by a fresh wave of unrest in the Middle East, with Iran launching attacks on US forces across the Persian Gulf and on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. Elsewhere, the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan are also expected to hold rates steady this week while maintaining a cautious stance toward inflation.
